Tudor Monte Carlo "Homeplate" Ref. 7031/0 from 1971

This is Tudor's most legendary chronograph. It's their very first chronograph, in fact, the first version of what would become known as the Monte Carlo, with its exotic dial. It was also called the "Homeplate" or the "Chrono Porsche."

This is an extremely rare watch. A hand-wound chronograph, a true counterpart to the Rolex Daytona Paul Newman and its exotic dials.

At the time, these models were produced in small series and weren't highly sought after, as the exotic dials of Rolex and Tudor were considered too unconventional. Collectors were already looking for automatic versions, and the first quartz watches were beginning to appear. These hand-wound chronographs equipped with Valjoux movements seemed to belong to another era.

Today, however, we are faced with a true legend: an exotic dial, screw-down pushers, an imposing case that commands attention on the wrist, and above all, an absolutely incredible design. The distinctive feature of this version is its date display at 6 o'clock, making it the most sought-after.

This particular example still has its original Bakelite bezel, its original bracelet, and, most importantly, its original box, papers, and invoice. It is a complete set.

This is undoubtedly the quintessential Tudor chronograph. The brand is currently experiencing a true resurgence in popularity, with Rolex making considerable efforts to revive Tudor and its history. These watches deserve your full attention.
