The Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 2508 in rose gold is one of the finest examples of vintage Calatrava watches. Produced in the 1950s, this reference is distinguished by its large 36 mm case—a remarkable size for the time—as well as by its highly sought-after technical features: water resistance, a central seconds hand thanks to the caliber 27SC, a screw-down case back, and an anti-magnetic cover.
In its day, it represented the pinnacle of mechanical Calatrava watches. The ref. 2508 is now considered one of the most prestigious and desirable references from Patek Philippe.
This particular example, in rose gold, is especially rare. The vast majority of pieces were produced in yellow gold, with only a few examples in steel and a very limited number in rose gold. Total production is estimated to have been only around 400 to 500 pieces, further highlighting the exceptional nature of this watch.
It also retains its original dial, with its distinctive alternating square and triangular hour markers, which give it a very strong character. The dial has never been cleaned and still has its original varnish, an essential detail for the most discerning collectors.
