Breguet 1940s Important Steel Chronograph

This Breguet, made and sold in 1948, just after the war, is a very handsome, large-sized steel model—a particularly rare size for a Breguet of that era.

But what makes it truly exceptional is its rarity: it was produced in an extremely limited number of examples.

Its provenance is perfectly documented. It belonged to Kenneth Clark, Baron Clark, the renowned London art historian. A former director of the National Gallery, he played a major role in disseminating culture and art history to the general public, notably through his television programs, including the famous series Civilisation.

Numerous photographs show him wearing this watch, which accompanied him throughout his life.

It is therefore a legendary piece: rare and entirely original. The dial is pristine, never retouched, with its case number inscribed on the dial, as is often the case with special orders—an exceptional detail.

It is undeniably one of the great historical watches from the House of Breguet.

Today, Breguet is finally receiving the recognition it deserves. In the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, the manufacture produced an extremely limited number of watches.
